The crash Monday at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 13 and Main Street in Albert Lea has claimed two lives, according to obituaries posted on a local funeral home’s website.
Marva Ann Gullord, 81, who was a passenger in the 2016 Honda Pilot that collided with a 1997 Peterbilt semi at the intersection, has died from injuries she sustained in the crash, along with driver Roger Allen Jensen, 84, who died at the scene of the crash.
A notice on the Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home website states Gullord died on Monday, and a memorial service is slated for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
The Minnesota State Patrol crash report website listed Gullord as being taken to St. Marys Hospital with life-threatening injuries, as of Wednesday night.
According to the crash report, the Honda was eastbound on Freeborn County Road 46 at the same time as the semi, driven by Gabriel Troy Schumacher, 21, of Lamberton, that was southbound on Minnesota Highway 13. The two vehicles collided at the intersection.
The State Patrol has not released any other details about how the crash occurred. It remains under investigation.
All occupants were listed as wearing their seat belts and alcohol was not a factor.
Memorial services for Jensen will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 at Bayview Freeborn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 4 at the funeral home and for an hour prior to the service.
