1 injured in crash on Highway 69 at Ninth Street

A 71-year-old man was injured Friday morning after a vehicle and a semi collided on U.S. Highway 69 near the intersection with West Ninth Street in Albert Lea.
Antonio Navarro Casanova, of Albert Lea, was taken by Mayo Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash report stated a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2005 Peterbuilt 379 tractor truck were southbound on Highway 69 at 11:47 a.m. when the vehicles collided at the intersection. Other details about what led to the crash have not yet been released.
Casanova was listed as the driver of the Jeep, while Darin Dean Toot, 56, of Albert Lea, was listed as the driver of the semi. Toot was not injured.
The report stated both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor.
The crash remains under investigation, and the State Patrol has not indicated which driver was at fault in the crash.
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and Albert Lea police and fire departments assisted at the scene.
