The city of Albert Lea reports the following project updates for the week of Sept. 16:
- Seventh Street reconstruction: Crews installed the new sidewalk and driveway aprons this week. They were scheduled to finish placing the first asphalt layer Friday. The final layer will be placed in spring of 2025.
- Greenwood Drive resurfacing and sidewalk: The contractor has removed the curb on the west side of the road, along with moving hydrants and storm sewer inlets to accommodate the new sidewalk.
- The concrete subcontractor started and was expected to finish installing the new curb and gutter Friday. Work next week will include grading and prepping for the new sidewalk.
- All-inclusive playground at Edgewater Park: With grading, drainage and utility work done, the contractor plans to install the playground equipment in October.
- Winter Avenue reconstruction: Work this week included connecting to the water main at Autumn Street; replacing the sanitary sewer between the abandoned railroad and Abbott Street; and installing the new rock base between Fountain Street and the abandoned railroad. Next week crews will continue replacing the water main on the north half of the project.
- Downtown Alley reconstruction: This week the contractor began installing the new pavement in the north/south portion of the alley between Clark Street and Elizabeth Avenue. This work will continue next week.
