The 11-year-old girl who was pinned under an overturned UTV in a private pond in rural Lake Mills late last month has died from injuries sustained in the crash.

An obituary posted on the Schott Funeral Homes website states Mae Helgeson died Monday at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Her services will be private with family and close friends in attendance.

Schott Funeral Homes Mittelstadt Chapel is handling arrangements.

Mae was an avid birder and a shining light in the world, according to her family on their CaringBridge page.

“All who know her have experienced her charm and know her love for her people, the world, nature and all living things.”
