Update: Man killed in crash on I-35 in Worth County identified

The Iowa State Patrol has identified the person killed Sunday afternoon in Worth County on Interstate 35 near the exit ramp to Joice and Kensett.

Samuel Joseph Poquette, 33, of New Ulm, reportedly died at the scene.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Poquette was driving a 2017 Cadillac CT6 southbound at 1:45 p.m. on I-35 near the 208 exit ramp, when he lost control of the vehicle, went into the median, through the cable barrier and struck the bridge pillar.

One person was reportedly killed in a crash Sunday afternoon in Worth County on Interstate 35 near the exit ramp to Joice and Kensett.

The name of the individual has not yet been released, pending family notification.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2017 Cadillac CT6 was traveling southbound at 1:45 p.m. on I-35 near the 208 exit ramp, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, went into the median, through the cable barrier and struck the bridge pillar.

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, Kensett Fire, Northwood Fire and Ambulance and the Worth County medical examiner.
