Harold “Buckwheat” Kalvig

Harold “Buckwheat” Kalvig, 76, passed away on September 25, 2024,at his home in New London, MO.
The family will host a graveside service that will be held at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea, MN at 11:30 on October 12, 2024, followed by a lunch at the Senior Center in Glenville, MN.
Arrangement for cremation are under the direction of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.
Harold was born May 8, 1948, in Mason City, IA, to Arthur Henry Kalvig and Frances Catherine Brown Kalvig.
He was united in marriage to Katheryn “Kate” Weis on June 3, 1967. Together they had two sons, Mike and Russ.
Survivors include his wife, Kate; son Russ Kalvig (Mary); five grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Cody, Tanner, and Marissa; and six great grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike Kalvig; sister, Linda; and his in-laws.
Harold was in the United States Air Force from 1967-1971. He drove an over the road truck for 50 years until he retired in April 2024 when he moved to Missouri with his wife of 57 years, Kate.
Harold’s favorite hobby was fishing.
