Judith (Judy) Olson Evans, 84 of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Excelsior, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024 at home in Sarasota, surrounded by family. Judy was born in Springfield, Illinois on July 8, 1940 and moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota in high school. On July 14, 1961, she married Robert Engels Evans in Albert Lea, Minnesota. She is survived by devoted husband Robert Evans, 89, sons Robert Jr. (Excelsior, MN), Richard (Oshkosh, WI), Geoffrey (Sarasota, FL), and David (wife Becky, Excelsior, MN) and six grandchildren: Geoff, Lindsay, Brooke, Grant, Brianna, and Robert III (Trey). She was preceded in death by her father, Harlan Olson, mother Doris Olson, brother David Olson, and sister, Jane Olson. Judy was a prolific creator of art, having graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Fine Arts in 1959. Judy represented Minnesota in the Miss America pageant in 1959, advancing to the finals. She was awarded many blue ribbons and awards of merit for her artwork, and proudly sold many of her finest creations. She also loved to give her art as gifts to friends and family. Judy was instantly loved by all who encountered her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
