In a time when many see school boards as an opportunity to push their political agenda, it’s refreshing to see someone who is running because they care about our kids and our community. Mary Jo Dorman has cared for our children as a public school teacher and administrator and will continue to do so as a school board member. Her years of experience in these roles, in addition to her financial knowledge from her time working in banking, will be a huge benefit to the board.

I’ve known Mary Jo for over 30 years and have seen firsthand how she has contributed to our community. We worked together in the Albert Lea Jaycees, where Mary Jo served as president. She has helped raise money for the Albert Lea High School Marching Band and the United Way and led the team that paid off the building debt for the Albert Lea Children’s Center.

She also brings the perspective of a parent, with her two sons attending and graduating from Albert Lea Public Schools.
