Last week this paper published a letter on the editorial page with the headline “Christians, vote for Trump”
This is my response to that letter.
“We, the members of the Conference of Bishops of the ELCA, speak with one voice to condemn the hateful, deceptive, violent speech that has too readily found a place in our national discourse. We lament the ways this language has led to hate-fueled action. We refuse to accept the ongoing normalization of lies and deceit.” This action was dated Oct. 1, 2024.
I firmly believe in the separation of government and religion, and I deplore what has happened in this election season. I also believe in honest discussion. Can you honestly say that your candidate is honest when he states that Jan. 6 was a love fest or that he really won in 2020?
