To all the businesses and organizations that went out of their way to provide Halloween and fall-related activities for children in the community.

It was great to see all of the businesses, nursing homes, churches and others who put together trunk-or-treat events, trick-or-treating or some other festivities for the children in the community during the last week.

It has been fun to see families out and about with their children and taking part in the activities. We hope that while families were out at various locations in the community that they were seeing more and more of what there is to offer here.

To all of the election judges working in the upcoming election.

We sometimes forget all the work that goes into running elections, and this year will be no different. Aside from all the planning and training that goes in ahead of the elections, on Election Day there are judges at each of the polling places, as well as county staff working tirelessly to make sure the election runs without any hiccups.

Thanks to those who work in this capacity, many year after year.

While the rest of the community will be at home or out somewhere else watching the election results roll in Tuesday night, remember that these people are still working, some putting in between 15 and 17 hours when it’s all said and done on Election Day.

Thanks for your efforts, and we applaud you for working in this important cause.
