EN(dur)ANCE by Robin Gudal
November is a month of anticipation and preparation in our household. We ended our camping season when we run away for a day or two. We winterized all things on the hobby farm, and planning is in full swing for the mid-month Annual Banquet at my other job. It’s also our youngest’s birthday, and the changing of the season’s decorations will soon adorn our home, as will the start of present buying, wrapping, sending or putting under a December tree.
I love this month, and yet often feel I am rushing through it. I found this saying:
“Once she stopped rushing through life, she was amazed at how much more life she had time for.” — Author unknown
I have sprinkled loving quotes throughout my house. I will share some “season of my life” ones, and I pray they will speak and challenge you as they do me:
“Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured.” — Mark Twain
“People start to heal the moment they feel heard.” — Cheryl Richardson
“My love is not divided; it is multiplied.” — Kelly Barnhill, author
The last quote came to me one night as I was trying to fall asleep. I Googled it to make sure I hadn’t heard it, and, low and behold, either good minds think alike or I did hear it somewhere. I haven’t read this author’s books, but she is also a Minnesota gal!
“The hurt they caused was most likely from hurt they carried.” — Lysa Terkeurst
“God turns broken pieces into masterpieces; give him your pieces.” — Author unknown
“So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” — 1 Corinthians 15:58, NLT
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 15:13, NLT
“Joy is something more substantial than happiness. And when you have it, you wouldn’t trade it for anything. True joy isn’t dependent on our circumstances, which also means this joy the Bible speaks of isn’t something that can be taken away.” — Matthew West
Wishing all of you a happy and blessed start to November!
