In a recent gathering with caregivers and staff members, John Double, director of Community Education, delivered promising news about the future of the Tiger Cub Child Care Center.

“The district is committed to child care and the Tiger Cub Child Care Center moving forward and past the 2024-25 school year,” Double said in a press release. “The district will continue exploring solutions for the program’s financial stability to provide this service for our staff and community.”

This announcement has been met with enthusiasm, as quality child care remains a significant need in the community. For families like one caregiver who shared her story, Tiger Cub Child Care Center has been life-changing.

The individual stated that choosing Tiger Cub Child Care was one of the best decisions she made for their son, noting he is so excited to come there every morning.

“As a mom, it’s incredibly reassuring to see how comfortable and happy he is in their care,” she said in a press release. “Not only is he thriving emotionally, but he’s also learning and growing so much. The staff truly care about each child, and that dedication shows every single day. I couldn’t ask for a better place for him to learn and grow.”

The district stated while the Tiger Cub Child Care Center cannot fulfill the entire demand for child care in the community, it serves as a part of a larger, community-wide solution. It looks forward to continued collaboration with local partners, including the city of Albert Lea, Freeborn County, the Albert Lea Economic Development Agency and the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, as they work together to address the broader needs of families.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers, staff members, and community who support the Tiger Cub Child Care Center,” said Double. “Your ongoing support is highly valued and appreciated.”
