1-2 inches of snow expected for Albert Lea area

Albert Lea and the surrounding area are expected to receive on the lower end of the snow totals in today’s snowstorm, ranging from 1 to 2 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
The heaviest snow is expected to fall between 5 a.m. and noon, with the snow beginning to dissipate during the afternoon. Light snow could linger into tonight.
Gusty northwest winds up to 30 to 40 mph are also expected to develop this afternoon and tonight, bringing with them some travel impacts from blowing snow.
Freeborn, Mower and Faribault counties are presently not in a winter weather advisory, though Waseca and Steele counties fall in the advisory.
People are encouraged to slow down on the roads and give themselves extra time to travel if necessary.
