Administrator’s Corner by Chris Dibble

Finals week is here for semester one and that means we are right on top of the halfway point of the school year. The fall of 2024 gave us a variety of memories that we will take with us for life.

Being halfway done means we still have another five months of opportunities to learn and create even more memories before we say goodbye to the Albert Lea High School class of 2025.

The halfway point of our year brings an opportunity for our students and staff to take some time away from school to decompress and spend time with family and friends. Many of our families look forward to this break while others may struggle to make ends meet during the two weeks school is not in session. Schools provide a variety of support that many students will miss through the end of December and the first week of January. If you are in need of anything while the schools are closed, there are a variety of support options available in Freeborn County. For more information you can reach out to school social workers.

Once we return to classes, winter activities will pick up heavily as we push towards the spring. One opportunity we will see is a large robotics competition that will be hosted at Albert Lea High School on Saturday, Feb. 15. Although this seems like a long way out, the planning has been ongoing and we need community members in Albert Lea to help us out. There are 60 volunteer positions available on Saturday and 20 setup positions on Friday evening. We would love to show off our school and community with a fully staffed tournament experience. More information and a link to sign up can be found on the Albert Lea High School and Albert Lea Area Schools Facebook sites.

I would like to take this final paragraph to thank the entire Albert Lea area for supporting education in Freeborn County. Together we do great work for all students in the area. I look forward to seeing many of you in the schools and community. I wish you and your families all the best as we move into 2025.
