Albert Lea man killed, 4 others injured in crash in southwestern Minnesota

An Albert Lea man died and four others were injured Tuesday evening after a crash in Windom.

Hunter Tim Allan Schwartz, 28, was reportedly taken to the Windom Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The report stated Schwartz was driving a 2018 Kia Sportage southbound on Highway 71 at 6:22 p.m. and Amy Sue Pigman, 42, of Odin was driving a 2023 Buick Enclave northbound when the vehicles collided near 510th Avenue. Road conditions were listed as snowy and icy at the time of the crash.

Schwartz was not wearing his seat belt.

Pigman and her three passengers — children ages 12, 13 and 14 — received non life-threatening injuries. The children were taken to the Windom hospital.
