Gail A. Frein, age 72, of Austin, Minnesota passed away at her home on December 19th, 2024.

Gail Annette Frein was born on July 3rd, 1952, in Kiester, Minnesota, to Leo and Audrey Wipplinger (Cox). She attended school in Kiester, Minnesota, graduating with the class of 1970.

Gail married David Frein at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on June 23rd, 1973. The couple was together for 51 years, raising three children. Gail and Dave were blessed with a very special son, Mark, who was born with severe Down Syndrome.

Gail is survived by her children, Dan (Faith) Frein of Bellevue, Washington, Lisa Frein of Austin, Minnesota and Mark Frein of Austin, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Harper Frein and Kayla and Tanner Frein-Turner; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Frein; her parents, Leo and Audrey Wipplinger; parents-in-law, John and Florentina (Flossy) Frein; and her brother, Gary Wipplinger.

Gail worked at the Austin Public School system as a secretary for 22 years before she retired in 2014.

Gail found joy in playing cards with her friends, attending musicals, and exploring the world. Her travels took her to Germany, Norway, England, China, and Thailand. She was an avid fan of Minnesota sports teams, especially the Twins and Vikings and cherished moments spent with her family. Gail had a deep passion for researching, documenting, and sharing her family’s history and lineage.

Gail found immense joy in celebrating the life events and accomplishments of her loved ones and was a reliable and supportive wife, mother, relative, and friend. Let us honor her memory by following her example-cherishing our loved ones and celebrating their achievements together.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 30th at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Matthew White officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday, December 29th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
