At Hawthorne Elementary, our upper-elementary students are more than just learners — they are athletes, artists and leaders. Two incredible opportunities that highlight this are the Hawthorne Hot Steppers Jump Rope Group and our choir program. Each program enriches students’ school experience and helps build valuable life skills.

Teamwork: Collaborating with peers for seamless performances.

Goal setting: Practicing challenging routines and achieving mastery.

Confidence: Performing in front of audiences builds self-assurance.

Resilience: Overcoming challenges fosters a growth mindset.

The Hot Steppers plan to represent Hawthorne pride at school events.

Hawthorne Choir: Harmony, expression and leadership

For music enthusiasts, the Hawthorne Choir offers a chance to explore vocal talents and perform at school and community events. Students gain:

Musical skills: Learning vocal techniques, harmonization and music theory.

Expression: Exploring creativity and emotion through song.

Discipline: Balancing rehearsals and academics teaches commitment.

Leadership: Roles like section leader or soloist inspire responsibility.

The choir fosters belonging and connection through shared musical goals.

More than activities: Building future leaders

Both programs are avenues for growth, skill development and community connection. Whether jumping to new heights with the Hot Steppers or hitting high notes in the choir, Hawthorne students embrace challenges, celebrate achievements and prepare for future success.
