My Point of View by Robert Hoffman

I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and extend a job well done on the incredibly successful 2024 elections. Here’s to the amazing 2025 we have ahead together and to the kick-off to the 2026 election cycle.

Now, I would like to personally invite anyone interested in participating with the Freeborn County Republicans to come do so with us. It is not always easy to do something new — I get it — but now is the perfect time. It can take up some time and nobody has any extra time anymore, I totally understand. It may mean getting out of our comfort zones a little, rarely (but the alternative is worse: we could look like Minneapolis if we don’t.)

If it wasn’t for the efforts of our Freeborn County, and all of southern Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District, Minnesota and the nation could have kept moving in a horrible direction. We have a lot to celebrate this new year and now we have to do our best with what we have been given.

In the next few months we will have our first two meetings of the Freeborn County Republicans since the reelection of President Trump. These first two meetings in January and February are a very important part to the kick-off to this new golden age of politics and toward flipping Minnesota Red in 2026.

Our Freeborn County Republicans meetings are held every month on the second Monday of the month at the Edgewater Bay Pavilion. We kick off at 5 p.m. with prayer and the pledge, but we always set aside time to socialize from 4:30 to 5 p.m. before the meeting. So, that being said:

As our Freeborn County Republicans chairman I would like to personally invite you to our first meeting of 2025 on Monday, Jan. 13, at 5 p.m. at the Edgewater Bay Pavilion. The meeting will last no later than 6 p.m. this month, and there will be a short time to socialize before the meeting from 4:30 to 5 p.m.

At our meeting we will discuss our 2025 calendar and go over the upcoming February Freeborn County Republicans convention. At the February convention we will be electing our 2025-26 board.

We have a lot to celebrate this new year, so let’s spend some of it talking politics with friends. (The local school board has been hogging all the attention lately. We need to get back to the good old days of talking politics. It was a much simpler time.) We have a world to change and together we can — this is where it starts. Happy New Year! We’ll see you soon.
