Paul S. Scrabeck

Faith, Family and Farm were three pillars Paul built the foundation of his life upon. Paul Samuel was born October 17, 1927 in Cherry Grove, MN, the son of William and Esther (Sydow) Scrabeck. When he was a young boy, his family moved to a farm near Kiester, where he grew up and graduated from high school, the Class of 1946. Growing up, Paul was a faithful member of Rice Lake Church. He joined the Wells Assembly of God Church and this was where he met Dorothy. On November 25, 1949, Paul was united in marriage to Dorothy Culbertson. The couple farmed near Kiester until 1956 when they purchased their farm in Alden, MN. After Dorothy’s death in 2001, Paul moved into Alden and rented out the farm.

Paul was an active, faithful member of Wells Assembly of God. After retirement from farming, he found his calling when he started volunteering. He enjoyed talking with men and women and bringing the word of God to them in the nursing homes. He worked with Hospice, Blue Earth YFC, and the Albert Lea Ride Service which he did faithfully for 10+ years. He shared scriptures, songs and poems to the residents of area nursing facilities; Good Samaritan Center and St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea as well as The Friendship Home and The Shepherd’s Inn in Wells. Those who were privileged to know Paul, knew he treasured the love of Christ, his family and the farm and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
