Pearl M. Simunds

Pearl Madeline Simunds passed away unexpectedly at Eventide, Fargo.
Pearl was born on March 2, 1928 to Gustav and Bertha “Pauline” (Nelson) Gabrielson in Hillsboro, ND. After graduating from high school in Hillsboro, Pearl went on to Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. She worked at Red River Motors as a secretary from 1947-1951. She married Wallace Simunds on December 29, 1951 at Hillsboro, ND at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. They moved to Minneapolis, MN and she worked for the Department Chair of Physical Medicine at University of MN Hospital from 1951-1954. They moved to Albert Lea, MN and she worked part-time as a bookkeeper for Simunds Dental Office for many years. She also worked part-time for the Albert Lea School District as a secretary for 20 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed playing bridge, doing hardanger handwork, golfing, and was a member of the Sons of Norway. Pearl and Wally were active members of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Moorhead, MN. Pearl lived at Edgewood Vista, Fargo from April 2019 until May 2024 when she moved to Eventide, Fargo.
She is survived by children, Joellen (Myron) Skonseng, Mark (Erin) Simunds; grandchildren, Garrett (Dana) Skonseng, Heidi Skonseng, Phillip Skonseng; great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Graden, Amelia, Gabriel, Lucy, Lily; one great-great granddaughter, Hazel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wally; parents; all of her siblings, George, Chester, Gilmer, Earl, Everett, Curtis Gabrielson and Delores Gabrielson-Swanson.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services. Entombment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
Memorials can be made to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Moorhead, MN, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
