Sing Play Learn with MacPhail and the Beat Makers

The MacPhail Center for Music in Austin will bring a free event to Albert Lea from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Albert Lea High School. There will be singing, dancing, instrument exploration and a craft. The event is best suited for families with children 8 and under, but all are welcome.

Memory Cafe Storytelling with Beverly Jackson Cotter

The Memory Cafe will kick off 2025 with a storytelling hour featuring Albert Lea resident Beverly Jackson Cotter at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Albert Lea Senior Center. Cotter and her husband coordinated the Minnesota Storytelling Festival, and she also regularly writes columns for the Albert Lea Tribune. The Memory Cafe is welcome to people in any stage of memory loss as well as their caregivers and friends. This is a free event, and refreshments will be served.

Parent’s Night Out

Albert Lea Community Education will host a Parent’s Night Out at the rock gym from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Albert Lea Area Learning Center. Parents of children in kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to participate. Children will be dropped off at the beginning of the evening and enjoy fun activities like crafts and games. Parents must preregister for the event and bring their own tennis shoes and water bottle. Preregister by going to facebook.com/share/esV96tH3HfsTww8J/ and clicking on the “find tickets” link.

Live Music by Jamie and Cody Acoustic

Modern country and rock acoustic musicians Jamie and Cody Acoustic will play live music from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Albert Lea Moose Lodge 1703 — Chapter 1364. The group plays all over the south central Minnesota area.

Burger Basket night fundraiser

A fundraiser for the junior and senior class at Glenville-Emmons School will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Glenville Legion. There will be burger baskets available for $12.
