Bonnie Ashpole

Bonnie (Flanagan) Ashpole was born October 17, 1944, in Albert Lea to Hans and Erna (Schwarz) Johannsen. She grew up in New Richland and attended New Richland-Hartland High School, where she was involved in 4-H, and achieved many awards. In 1962, she was united in marriage to Michael Flanagan. From this union three children were born. Michael passed away in 1977, and Bonnie later married Earl Ashpole, he passed in 2009. Bonnie continued to live in Albert Lea until the time of her death.

Bonnie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. She enjoyed growing vegetables in her garden to sell at the Albert Lea Farmers Market, pickling, needle point, and trips to the casino. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bonnie is survived by her children, Brenda (Ron) Lageson, Jim (Sue) Flanagan, Linda (Charlie) Schmidt; grandchildren, Jenna (Chad) Auen, Kelli (Sam) Malinski, Shelby Lageson (Joe Haselman), Michael (Mary) Flanagan, Bryan Flanagan, Rachel (Alex) Acosta, Jason Davis, Cassie (Travis) Payne; great-grandchildren, Greighten Auen, Gunnar Auen, Melody Malinski, Evan Payne; brother, Lyle (Carol) Johannsen; sister, Darlene Johannsen; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husbands.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Bayview Funeral Home in Albert Lea on Friday, January 17 between 3 and 5 p.m. There will be a graveside service in the spring for family members.
