An Albert Lea family is without a home after a large fire Thursday afternoon in southern Albert Lea.

Numerous firefighters, police and emergency medical crews responded to the fire, at 1814 Viking Ave., which was reported at 3 p.m. When fire crews arrived, they found the home fully engulfed in fire. Smoke could be seen billowing into the sky from a distance near the house.

It was uncertain at the time of arrival if anyone was inside the home, so firefighters made entry to search the home. A short time later they were able to confirm that all occupants had exited the home safely.
