The History Center of Freeborn County annual meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Jan. 23. The meeting will begin with a social time, and the formal meeting beginning at 5 p.m. Light appetizers will be served. An RSVP is requested.
Members are invited to join in for the annual meeting and get the inside scoop on the History Center of Freeborn County. Attendees will learn of the triumphs and struggles faced in 2024; hear what is on the horizon for 2025; meet the staff and board members of History Center; and have an opportunity to ask questions.
The History Center of Freeborn County has been collecting, preserving and sharing its county’s history with the public for 77 years. Did you know that less than 10 percent of the collection items are on exhibit at any one time? The remaining collection items still need proper storage and care to protect and share them with future generations. Staff will highlight some of the issues they are finding in their collections, showcase proper storage and offer attendees an opportunity to adopt an artifact in the collection.
When you adopt an artifact you are helping the History Center preserve its collection. Tax-deductible donations to the Adopt an Artifact program will support the restoration and storage of an artifact of your choosing and preserve its historical significance, or will go into general support for the collection items.
Adopting an artifact is a unique way to get involved with the museum’s collection and help provide the support needed to continue to collect and preserve the history of Freeborn County. Surprise a friend or loved one by adopting an artifact in his or her honor or show your pride in our county history by adopting one for yourself.
