Matthew Edward Sullivan passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, CA on January 10th, 2025 at the age of 55 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who admired his strength, intellect, and integrity.

Matt was born on October 6th, 1969 in Albert Lea, MN. As an accomplished member of the Albert Lea High School Class of 1988, he excelled in football, basketball, and track, with a stellar academic record. He continued his commitment to academics and athletics at Gustavus Adolphus College, earning a Physics degree and playing football, followed by a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Matt exercised his talents for problem-solving and mechanics with a career in Data Engineering.

Matt was a proud father to his daughters, Mackenzie and Alexis, and cherished their time together, frequently reading to them in their childhood and instilling his passion for learning as they grew. He was an avid reader and a history buff, loved arduous hikes in the LA mountains, and personified perseverance and bravery in all aspects of his life. Matt’s affinity for nature stemmed from time spent outdoors in Minnesota doing things he enjoyed like fishing, going Up North, riding his motorcycle, and having a good laugh around a campfire.

He is survived by his two daughters, Mackenzie and Alexis; and his brother, Patrick (Anna). He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis (MaryAnn) Sullivan and Nancy Sullivan.

A celebration of life will be held on Sat., Feb 15, 2025 at Bradshaw, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater, MN; Visitation 1-2 PM, Memorial Program 2 PM; followed by refreshments and appetizers.
