As the New Year rolled around, we were encouraged to think about a New Year’s resolution and then act by planning for the forthcoming 12 months.

On the heels of Jan. 1 comes Jan. 10, now dubbed as “Quitter’s Day.” Google defines this as, “A day to recognize and encourage those who fail to achieve their New Year’s resolutions.”

Is this any different than our spiritual life? I am born, and a plan is in place for when I fall short. His name is Jesus!

When I fail to accept this plan, it is sin. He, however, pursues me.

Jesus said that no one can come to him unless the Father first draws them:

“For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up.” — John 6:44, NLT

“The entire Bible is the story of God pursuing us.” — GotQuestions.com

“I believe that God has created each soul, that soul belongs to God, and that each soul has to find God in its own lifetime and enter into his life. That is what is important. All of us need to seek God and find him.” — Mother Teresa

In the book “Pilgrim” by Ruth Chou Simons, she talks about regeneration, being born again. Made new.

This happens when God imparts spiritual life to us. We are no longer dead in sin but made alive in Christ. New heart, new life; not blind, able to see and able to understand the things of God. We are free from the shackles of guilt, unworthiness and sin.

The Holy Spirit is in you. The Father’s love is upon you. The sacrifice of God’s son, Jesus, is for you.

“What does repentance mean? It means to change — to change your mind, change the way that you’re living — and to determine that with God’s help you will live for Christ.” — Billy Graham

“Repentance is a change of the mind and regeneration is a change of the man.” — Thomas Adams

If you haven’t accepted God’s love, what better time than today? Leave behind the old, start afresh and live a regenerated life.

If you, like me, have accepted his love, maybe we need to renew and walk forth in a healthier, kinder, more loving, more joyful and more forgiving life with Jesus.

Never forget you are loved with an everlasting love!
