Rox Tarrant believes people are in need of a good laugh.
That’s why the comedian and producer is bringing the show, “Big Divas, Big Laughs, Big Fun” to the Ramada Event Center on Saturday night.
Tarrant has been bringing comedy shows to Albert Lea for the past five or six years. “Coming to Albert Lea is like coming home,” she said. “Some of the best comedy audiences we’ve had have been here. We always enjoy coming back to the area.”
The show features the talents of Jodie Maruska, Brenda Elsagher, Susie Saccoman and LeAnn Diler, as well as Tarrant herself.
Tarrant is the founder of “Women Out All Night,” a standup comedy show, and is known as the Diva of Late Night Comedy.
Maruska is a regular in “Women Out All Night” and clubs and events across the country. She was dubbed “One of the Twin Cities’ funniest women” by the Twin Cities Reader.
Elsagher is a national keynote speaker and author.
Saccoman is a native of the Iron Range and will share stories about being a teacher, her family and growing up on “Da Range.”
Diler is a newcomer to “Women Out All Night” and will share her fresh perspective on life, love and what it means to be a real woman in the 21st century.
“It’s a show for people who love women,” Tarrant said. “It’s pretty clean humor, but it is adult humor — for people 18 and up.”
She said with the economy and the fact that it’s an election year, there’s no better time to stop and take a break from it all.
“People have had a very difficult last couple of months and they need a laugh,” she said. “What better place to do it than in your own backyard? It’s a professional show and I think it will hit a chord with people.”
The Ramada is offering a dinner package with the show. Cost is $30 per person for dinner and the show and $15 per person for the show only. Reservations are recommended for dinner; there will be comedy tickets available at the door or by calling the Ramada at 373-6471. Dinner seating is at 6 p.m. The comedy show is at 8 p.m.
