Lens and Shutter Photography Club meets tonight

The Lens and Shutter Photography Club held its April 15 meeting at the Rofshus Precision Machine Building with Darcy Sime presiding.
The new slate of officers for the 2010-11 is: President Dustin Petersen, Vice President Darcy Sime, Secretary Liz Reichl and Treasurer Barb Rofshus. They’ll begin their duties at the May meeting. Beginning this month, there will be only two competition entries per person per month instead of the current three entries.
April’s competition category was: “Old, Broken and Abandoned.” The following members received awards: First place to Darcy Sime for “Creamery in the Fall,” second place to Mitch Pederson for “Gunflint Trail Truck” and third place to Julie Bronson for “Logging Accident.” Honorable mentions were given to: Jim Wendel, Darcy Sime and Dave Sime. Merit awards were received by Bev Oyer, Carol Haroldson, Terri Simonson, Jean Aamodt and John Eisterhold. Members receiving two merit awards were Jim Wendel, Bernadine Peterson and Dustin Petersen.
John Eisterhold and Jim Wendel received merit awards on their N4C digital entries.
The 2010-11 competition categories were chosen for monthly competitions. They are: May — open, September — things with wings, October — monuments and statues, November — reflections, December — food, January — black and white, February — churches, March — night photography, April — scenic.
Rachelle Fleihman and Bernadine Peterson were the evening’s hosts.
Tonight is the end of the year awards and picnic at the home of Darrel and Jamie Hauer, 74222 240th St., Albert Lea. Start time is 5:30 p.m. Members and guests are asked to bring a dish to pass, eating utensils and your own lawn chairs. Anyone interested in the club may call 373-2862.
