Bobbi McCrea, 48, of New Ulm, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at her home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with the Rev. Hank Campbell of the United Church of Christ in New Ulm officiating. Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Friday. To leave an online condolence for her family or to sign the guest book go to: www.mvfh.org.

Bobbi is survived by her husband, Charlie Zangl of New Ulm; mother, Ruth McCrea Simpson, Albert Lea; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jyneal McCrea and Mark Hofmann, New Ulm, and Jennie and Jan Backstrom, Turlock, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law: Jason McCrea and Kate Michmerhuizen, Boston, Mass., aunts and uncles, Jerry and Maggie Ubl, Columbia, Mo., Joe and Katie Ubl, Albert Lea, and Candy McCrea, Edina; nieces and nephews: Quinn and Ramsey Hofmann, Lilli and Stuart Backstrom, and Gabriel, Finlay, and Rowan McCrea; cousins: Terri (Mike) Kahle, Cape Girardeau, Mo., Tammy (Jeff) Baack, Kansas City, Mo., Gina Ubl, Davidson, N.C., Lia (Will) Tipton, Rochester, and Charlie’s children: Sadi (Jed) Hunstad, Minnetrista, Emmy (Kevin) Landrum, Winona, and Pete Zangl, Huntington Beach, Calif. She died along with her two daughters: Abby Wood and Savannah McCrea; and was preceded in death by her father, Jim McCrea; grandparents Joe and Irene Ubl and Scotty and Charlotte McCrea.

She was born in Minneapolis to Ruth and James McCrea on Nov. 5, 1962. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1980. She graduated from Mundelein College in Chicago in 1984 with a degree in nutrition. She moved from Oregon back to New Ulm to open the Bohemian B & B in January 2002. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Wanda Gag House Association, New Ulm Actors Community Theater, Turner Hall, Junior Pioneers, The Putting Green, Grand Kabaret, Brown County Historical Society and many others.

Bobbi was very active in promoting New Ulm, working with numerous organizations. She was the most energetic, sporadic, bubbly, giving and loving person to so many people and causes. She was a vivacious, creative, free-spirited inspiration to all. The most important thing to her was family. She loved to explore wineries, stay at other B&Bs, attend music festivals and experiment with new recipes. She had a passion for traveling and embraced all the landmarks along the way. If her last minute plans did not work out, “Oh well!” She was also a gifted writer. She embraced Charlie’s children and family with open arms and a warm heart. Bobbi was the love of Charlie’s life and she will be missed every minute of every day.
