Here are highlights in history for July 7, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — A letter to the editor from a resident of Sheldon, Iowa, complimented Ken Evans of Albert Lea’s Evans Auto for his help when the Iowan’s car broke down north of the city.
1983 — The west portion of the Skyline Mall formerly occupied by Montgomery Ward was being remodeled. The intention was to have 18 new stores in this area, but it ended up becoming a Wal-Mart store.
1953 — Alcoholics Anonymous of Albert Lea moved into their present club building near the corner of Ulstad Avenue and Hawthorne Street.
