I would like to extend a sincere thank you to all of the community members who attended or supported the 2008 Party for the Lakes held at Edgewater Park on Sept. 4. It was a lovely evening for the event and we had a wonderful turnout.

Thank you to Dick and Marlys Webber, the 2008 recipients of the Ken Nelson Award. The award goes to a community member or members, as selected by the Lakes Foundation of Albert Lea, for continued dedication to area lakes. Mrs. Gerry’s won the 2008 Honored Business Award for their continued commitment and sponsorship of our cause. Thank you to other area businesses for your support as well.

Kent Erlandson was the winning bidder for the No. 1 commemorative coin. Kent is committed to clean lakes for the benefit of all recreational uses. Thank you, Kent!

There were four generous donations made to award to some lucky supporters in our coin raffle. They were from Erlandson’s Implement, Fisher’s Fine Jewelers, Morris Furniture and Nick’s Meats. Thank you to those and all other businesses for your donations. The party was a success, and we look forward to serving the area by promoting clean, recreational use of our area lakes!
