Here are highlights in history for July 10, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — In his Tribune column, Andy Rooney suggested that states should buy homes in Washington, D.C., for their representatives to live in while serving in Congress.
1979 — The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources placed test nets in Fountain Lake and Edgewater Bay to help estimate the number of game fish in the water.
1939 — Homer W. Ludwick became the first full-time paid secretary for the Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce.
