The Austin girls’ soccer team had a tough time keeping up with Albert Lea Tuesday night in a 7-0 loss.
Ariel Christensen scored six minutes into the match and the Tigers added three more goals in the first half for a comfortable 4-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half Albert Lea added three more goals and the Packers struggled to work their way out of their own end.
Austin tallied just 10 shots in the game while the Tigers were relentless in their attack.
Maing Garcia made 10 saves for the Packers in the evening and was challenged throughout the evening.
“That’s the most emotionally charged up I’ve seen this team,” Albert Lea head coach Rick Barnhill said. “They were just in a fired up mood.”
With homecoming this week the Tigers planned to make the game a big event and around 400 people turned out to support the team.
Chelsea LeBrun, Taylor Freihl, Madi Passingham, Morgan Stadheim, Mariah Maras and seventh-grader Brooke Hanson all had goals in the game.
