On Sept. 9 we will head to the polls to vote in the primary. Again this year, we have seen a good number of people vying for our vote for mayor. I would like to express my thanks and support for Mayor Randy Erdman. Mayor Erdman is doing a fine job as the leader of our city!

He has proven himself over the past two years in always being well-researched, up to date on the issues, and seeking solutions rather than excuses. He has improved the decorum of our public meetings by employing a “no nonsense” posture in dealing with rudeness and unbecoming behavior, and at the same time proves himself to be a good listener and a man of patience. He is not one to rush to judgment on any particular issue, and this is important in being a good and successful leader. It is not important to him that he receives any credit for his accomplishments as mayor because he’s a team player and exercises humility. He is an excellent salesperson for our community and is out and about, visible, approachable and available. Mayors in our region and business people of all kinds know him personally because he is on the road doing his job and building relationships. He does not look at our surrounding cities or states as competition but looks at ways we can benefit each other. He has built relationships at the state Capitol and has testified on our behalf several times. He is known not only by our local legislators but is a personal friend to our governor.

Along with his duties as our mayor, he is also a family man with a lovely, talented wife and children who are involved in sports, music and ministry. I believe Randy Erdman deserves to be returned to the office of mayor of Albert Lea. He’s the right man for the job! Please join me in supporting Mayor Erdman in the primary on Sept. 9 and on to re-election in November!
