On the Road: The Blue Banners to play at bar and grill in Freeborn

TB3s bar and grill in Freeborn will have an old and new musical feel this Sunday. The Blue Banner polka band will play on an outdoor trailer behind the building from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., in conjunction with a pork roast that lasts until all the food is gone. “We’ll be roasting two hogs and we expect it’ll all be gone,” said TB3s CO-owner Theo Beckman.
A $10 fee lets patrons celebrate through the evening as a rock ‘n roll band, It’s all BS, will hold forth on the band’s indoor stage, starting at seven p.m. “We’re expecting over 100 people to show up here on Sunday,” said Beckman. “ The polka band should attract some of the older crowd, and that’s great. Those folks are looking for fun things to do, and we’re trying to attract their business.”
The bar has operated under various names for at least 50 years, according to Beckman, who is part of a seven member family ownership group which purchased and re-named the former Powerhouse Bar in November 2007. “Comedy nights have also proved a great attraction,” said Beckman. “Our next comedy act is Wild Bill Bauer, who will appear at TB3s on September 26 and 27, in conjunction with a Barbecue rib supper, all for $25.”
TB3s also helps sponsor a volleyball league, dart leagues and pool tournaments, at various times of the year, said Beckman.
