Tigers Post 56 beats Rockets

The Albert Lea American Legion Post 56 baseball team won its regular season finale Sunday 8-2 at Rochester John Marshall.
Cody Haaland earned the win after pitching a seven-inning complete game. He struck out one, walked one and allowed two runs on six hits.
“Haaland pitched a good game,” Tigers coach Jack Kortan said. “He was in control, threw strikes and the defense made a lot of nice plays.”
Connor Kortan went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Cole Sorenson was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Houston Sharpe was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was canceled due to rain.
With the win, the Tigers secured the No. 5 seed in the upcoming nine-team district tournament. The Tigers host No. 4-seeded Rochester Century at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hayek Field.
