Harvest Day downsizes this year

Harvest Day Aug. 9 has downsized to a few hours due to conflicting events at the same time. However, Harvest Day planners hope to grow the event in coming years.

“We’re just downsizing to keep it going,” said city councilwoman Linda Pederson. “Next year we hope to go back to a fuller day.”

The event is one day instead of two this year. Planners expect to continue that, she said, but hopefully Harvest Day will be bigger next year.

The activities will start at 3 p.m. with an East vs. West softball game for people 15 years old and older. There will be a Kids Carnival, games and family fun in the City Park and Bingo in the fire hall.

Starting at 4 p.m. there will be home-based businesses set up at the City Hall until 7 p.m. The Firemen Relief barbecue dinner is at 5 p.m. also at the City Hall.

A street dance will be at 8 p.m. at the Hartland Pub on Broadway Avenue.

There will not be a garden show this year.

Even though Harvest Day is only a few hours, there will be fun for everyone in the family.
