The results haven’t come for the Albert Lea boys’ tennis team, but head coach Neil Chalmers said the team is improving despite its winless record.
The Tigers fell 6-1 to Austin Thursday in Albert Lea, but the scores of the matches improved.
“We keep getting better and better,” Chalmers said. “The scores don’t always reflect it.”
Senior Brian Reindl picked up the only victory for the Tigers at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 victory over Patrick Wagner, but Albert Lea fell in straight sets in its other matches.
Senior Kyle See-Rockers held a 5-0 lead against Austin’s Josh Detwiler before Detwiler rallied for a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
The No. 3 doubles team of senior Jeff Thorstad and junior Luke Cheever played a competitive match but fell 6-2, 6-3 to Joe Ulrick and Ryan Rasell.
