1985 — About 150 Girl Scouts from Freeborn County participated in a week-long camping adventure at Helmer Myre State Park. One of the events was based on a carnival.

1975 — Postmaster General Benjamin F. Bailar said postage for a first class letter would be increased from 10 cents to 13 cents.

1945 — A race horse named “Beaver” was killed at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds when he stepped on a live electrical wire.
