Seven people have been listed as being injured in two separate accidents on County Road 34 approximately two miles south of Oakland early Sunday morning.
A list released by the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office late Monday afternoon lists the following who were injured in the first accident at 1:35 a.m. They are: Charles Kenneth Dennison, 20, Albert Lea; Nathan James Buchli, 26, Albert Lea; Kelly John Pechumer, 37, Alden; Kelly Jo Abrego, 25, Myrtle; Broc Marc Dempewolf, 22, Albert Lea; and Langdon Brooks Bachtle, 26, of Myrtle.
Dennison is listed on the sheriff’s report as the driver of the pickup which was traveling south and reportedly drove around “Road Closed” barricades. His vehicle went into a washout area, landing on top of a steel culvert and crashing into the south side portion of the washout.
The sheriff’s report lists Pechumer and Abrego as being in critical condition, Buchli in serious condition, and the other three with unknown injuries. All six were taken to the Austin Medical Center.
The second accident at this scene took place a short time later when Alex Jay Kline, 21, of Lyle, went to the accident site. He was responding as a first responder for the London Fire Department and was traveling north. The accident report said he was unable to see the washout, was too close to stop and slid into the washout area. He was listed as receiving minor injuries.
