Police return stolen bike to rightful owner

This past weekend my 7-year-old son’s bike was stolen from our driveway. Normally he keeps it in the garage; however, he for some reason, left it out on Saturday night. When my kids woke up to go out and enjoy the day Sunday morning, they found that the bicycle was missing.

When I contacted the Albert Lea Police Department, a dispatcher informed me they thought they may know where it is. When I asked where they said it may be, the response was “It might be in someone’s yard.” Well, I don’t know who’s yard it was in, but obviously that person cared enough to call in and report finding the bike.

I am writing this letter today to send a huge thank you to the kind person who contacted the authorities. My son hasn’t had that bike long and it was a birthday gift from Grandma and Grandpa. I don’t know who you are, but I am happy knowing there are decent people out there.

As for the bike-napper, a big shame on you! Theft itself is bad enough, but when you knowingly steal from a child, that makes you pretty darn low.
