Here are highlights in history for July 25, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1986 — Central Freebprn Lutheran Church was observing its 125th anniversary. This church was called the “mother church for 12 other congregations that evolved later.
1976 — The Albert Lea -Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce was trying to get All-American City status for the community. Part of the process involved a listing of recent accomplishments, including a new outdoor swimming pool and City Arena.
1966 — Part of the centennial celebration in Minnesota Lake was based on a play based on the community’s history.
