Break was relief for spring fever
Published 2:30 pm Saturday, May 8, 2010
This school year, we don’t have a spring break. There is good reason behind it, seeing as we started school an entire week late due to the late Labor Day this year. But even with good reason, I think it was a bad decision on the part of the school district.
I understand that we are required by law to start school after that day, but once second semester starts there isn’t much opportunity for a break. And I know as a student I could really use time off to break up the last hard run of classes before summer. Maybe just by skimming days off the many holiday breaks or not taking so many teachers institute and half days could conjure up a few days to add onto Easter break. It doesn’t need to be a lot, but I really thing we need something.
It’s not even just for the students; it’s for the teachers and the families, too, to keep us all sane. So please try to come up with a few ideas for next year, to save us all from having to ride out dreaded spring fever in class all semester.
