Thanks for supporting Scouting for Food

Local Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts would like to give a huge thank you to our local communities for their generous support during our 2010 Scouting For Food drive. We gathered 4,012 pounds of food in the Albert Lea area to help out families in need.

We’d like to thank KATE Radio, the Albert Lea Tribune, the Freeborn County Shopper, Western Rentals, the city of Albert Lea, the United Way, our local churches and the folks at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds for helping us get the word out about Scouting For Food.

Nelson’s and Hy-Vee were a tremendous help with their pre-filled bags and drop-off locations. We also had many local businesses who had mini-food drives all week long collecting from employees. The staff at the Salvation Army and the Ecumenical Food Pantry were on hand with kind words and treats and we appreciate their enthusiastic cooperation with our drive. Most of all, we’d like to thank each and every person who purchased a pre-filled bag or set out a bag or two on their front step for a Scout to come and pick up. Every year, our boys and girls of Scouting look forward to combing the neighborhoods for those bags of food and delivering them to the food shelves. They truly enjoy knowing they are doing their part to help out our community and they couldn’t have done it without all of you. Thank you!
