Gymnasts Kayln Stensrud of Freeborn, Karli Kriewall of Albert Lea, and Nicole Tritle of Hollandale attend the Owatonna Gymnastics Club in Owatonna Minnesota.

The team took first place in the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association state competition, where three local gymnasts qualified for the state individual competition in the junior division (ages 12 and 13).

The competition was held at the Waseca Junior High School on March 29.

Stensrud qualified for all-around and competed in all four events placing first on beam with a score of 9.25, second place on bars, 11th place on floor, ninth place on vault, and third place all-around.

Tritle qualified for bars and took 11th place. Kriewall qualified for floor, vault and beam. Just qualifying for individuals is a great honor, as they only take the top 12 girls in each event and 12 more for the all around competition, resulting in each event having 24 competitors.

Stensrud is in eighth grade at Southwest Middle School. Kriewall is in seventh grade also at Southwest Middle School. Tritle is in sixth grade at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva.
