Edwina Harris, 88, of Albert Lea

The funeral service for Edwina L. Harris, 88, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service.
Edwina died on Friday, April 11, 2008, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center, Health Care Wing.
She was born on Dec. 7, 1919, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the daughter of Robert and Beulah (Wertman) Gerould. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Ypsilanti, Mich.
Edwina married her high school sweetheart Adelbert &8220;Del&8221; Harris on
July 19, 1938. They raised their three daughters, Mary, Virginia and Joan in Ypsilanti.
She took a very active role in her daughters&8217; activities including Girl Scouts, helping with costumes for synchronized swim club and other school activities.
She was an active member of the First Methodist Church in Ypsilanti.
In 1958, Del was transferred to Albert Lea and they have made their home here since. She lived her faith through the Albert Lea United Methodist Church, where she was active in UMW, holding offices both locally and at the conference level. Edwina volunteered for the Naeve Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and brightened many days with her diligent hospital and nursing home visits. She also enjoyed a good game of bridge.
Edwina is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Adelbert &8220;Del&8221; of Albert Lea; her daughters: Mary (John) Stettler of Fountain City, Wis., Virginia Harris of Gunnison, Colo., and Joan Roragen of Omaha, Neb.; five precious grandchildren: Karen (Ted Wilson) Stettler of LaCrosse, Wis., Heidi (Travis) Frey of Huxley, Iowa, Steve Stettler of Plain, Wis, Kevin (Jill) Roragen of DeWitt, Mich., and Keith Roragen of Omaha, Neb.; four special great-grandchildren: Haley Cromie-Stettler, Dirk Wilson, Olivia Roragen and Philip Roragen; a sister, Lois Royal, of Saline, Mich.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church, Thorne Crest Retirement Center or Crossroads Community Hospice.
