Whilma Jensen, 92, Albert Lea

The memorial service for Whilma Irene Jensen of Albert Lea will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Friends may visit with family one hour before service at the church. Her body will be taken to Tucson, Ariz., to be entombed next to her husband at the South Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum.

Whilma died on Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community, Albert Lea. She was 92 years old.

Whilma Irene Jensen was born Jan. 2, 1916, the daughter of William and Clara Wittmers. Whilma graduated from Albert Lea High School and later attended Mankato State and Mankato Commercial College. She was married Feb. 2, 1940, to Albert LeRoy Jensen at Salem Lutheran Church. They lived in Albert Lea until 1979, when they established their permanent home in Green Valley, Ariz., where her husband passed away on Nov. 16, 1992.

Whilma is survived by cousins, Violet (Mrs. William Sr.) Bos of Albert Lea and Helen (Mrs. Dick) Slegh of Hollandale, Richard A. Jensen of Minneapolis; nieces, Barbara Osmundson, Margaret (Cobb) Knutson of Albert Lea, Susan Nagel of Rochester; nephews, Joel Jensen of Hastings and Thomas Jensen of Texas and several other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Whilma was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers, Earl and Wilbur; and her beloved husband, Albert.

In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to Salem Lutheran Church.
