In coordination with Child Abuse Prevention Month this month, the H.U.G.S. (Help Us Grow Safely), Freeborn County Child Abuse Prevention Council) will hold a proclamation event Wednesday at The Children&8217;s Center on James Avenue.
During the event, a proclamation will be read identifying April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, and blue ribbons will be tied on various places.
Freeborn County commissioners and Albert Lea officials, along with representatives from the Freeborn County Sheriff&8217;s Department, Albert Lea Police Department, Albert Lea Fire Department and Albert Lea Ambulance Service will be in attendance.
The event begins at 2 p.m.
Child abuse and neglect continue to impact the lives of far too many children and adult survivors. Prevention is possible and that is the goal, the council states.
