Jim Young, rector at Christ Episcopal Church of Albert Lea, presented the program to the Travel Class of Albert Lea on March 17. He discussed the labyrinth (prayer path) that has been placed on the grounds of his church. The path allows a person to go to the &8220;spiritual center,&8221; to the heart of Christ in prayer. The public is invited to walk the path.
The prayer breakfast meeting was held at the home of Marlene Behle with Jane Colby, Muriel Sargent, Alice Peterson and Shirley Chryst as co-hostesses.
Sargent reported on the Books for Kids project. Recently 257 books were given to the Healthy Families organization. This spring all first-graders in Freeborn County who visit the Freeborn County Historical Museum will be presented with a book from the Travel Class.
Each year the Travel Class donates funds earned from its nut and candy sale to non-profit groups. Since March is Food Shelf Month the group voted to donate $1,000 to the Ecumenical Food Pantry at First Presbyterian Church. Money donated to the pantry allows the group to purchase food from Channel One Food Bank in Rochester and this month the added funds also provide an incentive allocation from Minnesota Food Share and the Feinstein Foundation. For each $1 donated, $4 or $5 worth of food can be purchased from Channel One.
