Harriet Hanson, 99, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Harriet Hanson of Albert Lea will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate.
Interment will be in Geneva Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Harriet died peacefully on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center Health Care Wing. She was 99.
Harriet was born on June 21, 1908, in a log home east of Geneva to Martin Ferdinand
and Ida (Christianson) Wayne. She first attended school two miles from home by walking; the remainder of her schooling was in Geneva.
She married E. Luverne Hanson in a double ceremony with Luverne&8217;s sister Phyllis and Harold Benson at the Clarks Grove Baptist Church parsonage on Feb. 13, 1930.
Following their marriage they lived on a farm owned by her parents and then in Clarks Grove for two years. In 1934, they moved to Albert Lea.
Harriet was employed by Bell Telephone and catered from her home.
She had served on the board of directors at the vocational school as a consultant in the catering course.
Harriet had been active at Trinity Lutheran Church, participating in Altar Guild, Home Missions, Lois Circle and Bible study.
She had lived in her own apartment at Thorne Crest for more than 17 years, later moving into assisted living and then the health care wing.
She is survived by three sons Paul W. (Nell) Hanson of Albert Lea, Richard L. (Gwen) Hanson of Hayward and Roger S. (Sue) Hanson of Hilo, Hawaii; grandchildren: Bruce (Ann Marie) Hanson of Cape Cod, Mass., Debra (Michael) Tillman of Fresno, Calif., Scott (Holly) Hanson of Spring, Texas, E. Graden (Jesse) Hanson of Bloomington, Caroline (Michael) McDowell of Spring, Texas, Phillip (Heidi Stoltenberg) Hanson of Albert Lea and Steven (Suzanne) Hanson of Owatonna; and nine great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was also survived by sister Frances Nelson of Fargo, N.D.; brother-in-law John (Jerry) Hanson of Minneapolis; sisters-in-law Barbara Jean (Alan) Kleinpaste of Albert Lea and Maurine Wayne of Ellendale; and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Luverne, in October of 1961; her parents; infant twin grandsons; sisters, Louise Wayne and Mamie McGaughy; brothers, Chris, Art, Manford, Loren, Henry and Leonard Wayne; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
